Ally's first birthday

A friend of mine asked me if I would be the official photographer at her baby's first birthday party, and I was thrilled to say YES!! Allison is a baby that I have photographed a few times before, and she's great. She has the most amazing big, blue, curious eyes. And she's incredibly sweet. This was definately a fun shoot.



One thing I enjoyed about the shoot was that I could actually take charge. Usually when I'm at social events I don't want to get in the way and interupt the flow of events. This time I was able to say, "Hey, let's move these two gifts here and set Ally here". It was nice to be more in control of the composition.

Another benefit of this shoot is that I took advantage of there being lots of relatives present. I got gutsy enough to ask couples if they wanted their portraits taken, and everyone was very enthusiastic about it.
